f you love golf, you’ve got to go to Maui, where a rainbow of options at a plethora of prices run the gamut from Kapalua to
Kaanapali to Wailea to Wailuku. Oh, yes, and did we mention that
the most beautiful golf school in the world is found on Maui along with dining and lodging choices that are to die for — both in terms of beauty and what it’s going to cost you. First a little bit about Hawaii’s
second-largest of eight main islands. For one thing, it has incredible

topography, which makes for awesome golf courses. Known as the “Valley Isle,” Maui is a roller coaster between two large volcanoes — Komohana in the northwest and Haleakala in the southeast. But don’t worry, there hasn’t been an eruption since Haleakala “teed off” in 1790. Second, there are only two seasons in Maui, warm and warmer, with an average temperature of 75 degrees based on sea level. In other words, it’s a great day for
golf with a view, and there’s no place better to kick off a vacation than the
most highly decorated learning center on the Islands, the Kapalua Golf Academy. Managed by Scottsdale-based Troon Golf and boasting the No. 1 instructor on the Islands, Ben Hongo, there are no hard knocks at this school. And, hey, if you don’t learn a thing you’ll still be able to enjoy one of the most panoramic vistas on Maui, as the KGA sits high atop the hills of Kapalua with the Pacific Ocean seemingly the backdrop for every shot. “You can certainly get a little
