SPIRITS OF THE GAME By AZ Golf Insider Staff
> Wine with legs Former LPGA star Jan Stephenson and California winery Broken Earth recently released several value- focused wines for seasonal entertaining. The three- time major winner, who earned 16 LPGA victories and another 10 wins around the world, co-developed these three easy-to-drink wines — the Jan Stephenson 2013 Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot — with winemaker Chris Cameron at the Paso Robles facility. “With over 500 acres of a fully sustainable vineyard, the true loving care to the earth and its vines made (Broken Earth) the only choice for me,” she said. The trio shows good fruit characteristics and Stephenson’s signature silhouette on the label.

> White delight White wine is always apropos in the desert, especially after playing 18 holes and working up an appetite. Arnaldo Caprai’s Grecante Grechetto from Italy’s Umbria region keeps you on your toes and impresses with its soft yet well-balanced fruity profile of citrus and apple. The wine remains supremely clean with stainless-steel fermentation and no oak, so all that comes through is that lovely Grechetto fruit. Think bright and beautiful Sauvignon Blanc. Throw some prawns on the grill and chill this bottle. Your guests will love it.
