City of Medicine Hat Parks and Recreation update 2021


Recreation: We miss you. Our empty facilities have no pulse without all the sports, fitness, and activity enthusiasts excelling through movement, play, and social interaction. We look forward to welcoming you all back in whatever capacity we are able. In the meantime, take care of yourselves and each other, and keep moving - just for the health of it.


Parks: It is inspiring to see Medicine Hat’s extensive trail network being utilized so well. Our staff are committed to keeping the paths, outdoor playgrounds, and dog parks clean and safe for outdoor activities.


Facility Operations: With this latest closures and restrictions, we took advantage of the down time to complete upgrades and preventative maintenance in both the FLC pool and in the rink. This allows us to avoid major service disruptions going forward. The team also installed new turf on fieldhouse #2 while carrying out a plethora of other deep cleaning and preventative maintenance tasks that are best conducted when buildings are empty.


These are trying times for many in our community. Here’s hoping all Hatters can find strength in the struggle and bounce back with resilience as we progress through 2021.
