Lambing Season has arrived, and we ask that care and attention is taken controlling your dog in and around areas with sheep.


Dogs by nature may want to play or chase livestock which may unwittingly cause harm. Please be aware sheep worrying is an offence.


It is legal for landowners to shoot dogs to protect their livestock, providing there was no other way of stopping the dog worrying their animals and they report the killing to the police within 48 hours.


Livestock also includes domestic fowl, geese or ducks. The financial burden on the farmers can be large and it can also be very distressing for them and their families.
