✔ Check and clean the prop and shaſt, keel, water inlets and outlets as oſten as you can - Liſt, scrub and check vessel antifoul annually – collect all debris & dispose of responsibly, keeping clear of the water


✔ Wash off your anchor and chain before storing and leaving an anchorage


✔ For smaller vessels & craſt, trailers & all wet equipment – CHECK - CLEAN – DRY


WHAT THE LOCALS DO TO PROTECT THE DART ESTUARY?


We can all take individual responsibility and do our bit to help to protect this beautiful estuary, both on land and afloat. Be part of the solution, not apart from it -


✔ Be waste clever - reduce and reuse, upcycle and recycle


✔ Be prepared to take your litter home or dispose of using Dart Harbour’s waste and recycling facilities


✔ Litter attracts litter – take more than you arrived with - collect your five-a-day


✔ Keep your vessel’s oily waste from the water - use a bilge sock or filter


✔ Throw nothing overboard - do not discharge untreated sewage – use local pump out facilities or pump out far at sea


✔ Use phosphate free, environmentally benign cleaning products – use the soſt-water amount


✔ Keep wake to a minimum and give wildlife space to thrive – you are likely to see more as a result


✔ Don’t fall foul of the law - dolphins & some other marine animals are protected from deliberate or reckless disturbance


✔ Make memories … ‘leave only ripples & take only photos’

The Dart Estuary Forum The Dart Estuary Forum provides an open opportunity for representatives of all local groups, associations and authorities to come together to discuss issues of the estuary’s sustainable use and conservation management with ideas, best practice and opportunities to encourage their enhancement. The Dart Estuary Forum offers a coordinating and advisory role in the conservation and environmental enhancement of the Dart Estuary and surrounds to promote its greater understanding, appreciation and care of its special qualities, status and natural processes.
