Community Safety Message from Devon and Cornwall Police Tap For North Devon If you visited Barnstaple Town Centre over the Christmas and New Year period, I am sure you will have noticed our ‘Tap For North Devon’ Pay points popping up in some of the shop windows.

What is Tap for North Devon? Tap for North Devon is a Safer Towns funded initiative which aims to enhance support for our local homeless charities, (Encompass Southwest and The Freedom Community Alliance) through convenient, easily accessible donation points situated throughout Barnstaple Town.

Each tap on a payment device with a contactless credit or debit card, takes a £3 donation which is split equally between our frontline charities who are skilled at improving the lives of our vulnerable, street attached, members of the community.*

You can find out more about the vital work being done and the services and facilities available for those who find themselves rough sleeping on the Freedom Alliance website: https://freedomcommunityalliance.org.uk/ and the Encompass Southwest website: https://www.bpag-encompass.org.uk/

*A small fee is taken by Goodbox who provide the payment devices. More than 94% of your donation goes directly to the charities.

Could You Be Bitten by A Loan Shark?

If you can answer yes to one of the following questions you might be borrowing from a loan shark:

Did they offer you a cash loan? Did they not give you paperwork? Did they add huge amounts of interest to your loan? Have they threatened you? Are you scared of people finding out? Have they taken your bank card, benefit card, passport, watch or other valuables from you?

If you think you may be a victim of illegal money lending, you have done nothing wrong, please do not suffer in silence. Help is available from www.stoploansharks.co.uk. They have a webchat service or you can call them on 0300 555 2222.
