It is awarded to those who have left a positive and indelible mark on the industry. It is likely that they will have contributed both professionally and voluntarily which has resulted in industry recognition, professionalism and growth. The award is the highest accolade given by the industry and it includes the granting of MIA Life Membership.

MDL appoints six managers

It was recently announced by MDL Marinas that six new managers had been appointed across its UK marinas, five of which were promoted internally.

Debbie Burns, CMM, has transferred

to manage Hamble Point Marina, Claire Kennedy has been promoted to manage Northney and Sparkes marinas and Andrew Millar is to head

up Ocean Village and Saxon Wharf. Further internal promotions see

Martyn Sherratt and Alex Warner take over the helm at Brixham Marina and Dartside Quay, respectively, while Emma Crompton joins the company to manage Chatham Maritime Marina. Emma Crompton is new to MDL,

but comes with an impressive resume to underpin her tenure as Manager

at Chatham Maritime Marina. A Thames Waterman (and Freeman of the River Thames), she crews for RNLI Gravesend Lifeboat Station and has had a striking career, including Harbour Manager at Queenborough Harbour Trust and Associate Director for a marine consultancy company. “I’m very excited to be taking on the role as Marina Manager at Chatham

MB92 Barcelona now a bonded customs area

On 3 December, it was announced by  MB92 Barcelona that the Spanish customs authorities have given approval for the facilities it offers to be  (DAP).

To support the RPA service already available, clients will now be able to unload items directly from yachts while in the facilities and arrange imports, exports or transits without, in many cases, paying income tax. MB92 Barcelona also permits the option to store  m facilities, as well as a dedicated 720 sq m bonded warehouse to secure more delicate items under customs control. In addition to being a DAP, the Barcelona facilities are an authorised economic operator (AEO), licensed premises for the exportation of goods (LAME), a temporary storage area (ADT) and will extend the AEO  the coming weeks.

Maritime Marina,” enthused Emma. “I look forward to meeting all of the berth-holders and ensuring that the marina continues to develop in a positive way. It has a fantastic reputation in the boating community, which I obviously want to maintain.” The appointment of six marina managers marks an exciting point for MDL as it continues to strive to provide the best locations, facilities and services for its berth-holders, tenants and visitors.
