MAIDSTONE Radio, the online community station which launched a year ago, has been nominated for an award. It is line for a gong in the best dig- ital radio category of this year’s Community Radio Awards. The awards, now in their fifth year, celebrate the work volunteers put into their local stations, shows and communities . Broadcasting from Maidstone Community Centre in Marsham Street, Maidstone Radio focuses on the borough’s people, business and charities. Co-founder Jason McCrossan said: “This is a special achievement and
recognition of a dedicated group of volunteers, many of whom have never been involved with radio before, who have come together to create a com- munity radio station for Kent’s county town.” Steve Marks (pictured), head of music and presenter of the daily show Maidstone Mornings, said: “It’s great to be recognised by your peers, and it’s testimony to the vision of the directors and the efforts of all the team.” Listen to Maidstone Radio online at
