FEATURE

months, trumpeters are assembled in groups. The consolidation only works if all birds are placed in one new aviary at the same time. A later socialization with further individuals does not work, because trumpeters see their aviary as their territory and defend it aggressively against new individuals. Currently the 22 juveniles of Weltvogelpark Walsrode are socialized in three different groups. In two years at the latest, the Weltvogelpark team is looking forward to further offspring from their in 2015 hatched fosterlings. Aim of this year is to realize the successful natural rearing by the parents.
