from weakness in musclesand tendons. “There are 13 different subtypes of

EDS,” Ashleigh told me. “and there are 255 million people in the world with all the different subtypes. The result is avery misunderstood condition.” Ashleigh was just 12 whenshe was

diagnosedwithEDS.She told me “It was pretty terrifying to be honest, because we didn’t know what it was when the condition first came on. Iwould just go blind and be paralysedfor a few days. We were all really scared.” Despite the problems EDS has causedherphysically, she often sufferedbehind closeddoors. “People do not understand that you can look well, yet be living witha chronic condition.” The film, The Dark Horse, aims to shed

light on her disability. Ashleigh ridesreally well, and so whenshe askedifshe could ride Frankie and put him in the film we

spoke to Ann and Colin who thought it was alovely ideaand gave the go ahead. Ashleigh and herDad, along with film

crew, have beenhere a few timesbut this monthwehad ahuge filming day. I jumped Kandleford (Tom) also ownedby Ann and Colin. We had to a few goesat getting the perfect shot, but Tom did not seem botheredbyany of the gear at all. Thenitwas Ashleigh and Frankie’s turn;

Iwas convincedFrankie would not like the spotlights, but of course he lovedit. He must have thought he was cantering down the ring under the spotlight at Horse of the Year Show or something. He rose to the occasion like he was 10 again. We have one more day of filming

to do, but it is going to be fantastic to see the finished film whenitgoes out next year. I’ll keepyou upto date withitonmysocial media.
