Doing things differently


BIFA Members have responded magnificently to the BIFA Awards 2020 Call for Entries. The closing date for entries has now passed and category finalists will be announced soon


2020 and the coronavirus pandemic have prompted us all to make changes in both our personal and professional lives. The way we work has had to be adapted to ensure that we stay safe and protect each other, whilst maintaining the flow of freight into and out of the UK. The way we socialise has changed with the introduction of ‘social bubbles’ and restrictions on travel and large gatherings.


In the circumstances, the BIFA Awards


Ceremony Luncheon will not be able to take place in January 2021; plans are now being made for an alternative format to celebrate the achievement of the finalists and announce the winners. Further details will be provided in the December issue of BIFAlink. BIFA has received in excess of 60 entries to the BIFA Awards 2020 detailing activities as


diverse as space projects, supermarket supplies, PPE manufacturing equipment and the repatriation of stranded motorcycles. Entries to the two individual categories,


Young Freight Forwarder of the Year and Apprentice of the Year, come from BIFA members up and down the country and in all size categories from single-office operations employing less than five staff to multinational organisations employing hundreds, proving that in this business, and in the BIFA Awards, size does not matter. The judging panels are now reviewing all entries received and shortlists will be announced before final judging takes place.
