Growing up isn’t always easy and in today’s fast paced world the pressures on young people can seem insurmountable. Worcestershire- based TV journalist Suzanne Virdee has just published a book which she hopes will help teenage girls navigate the choppy waters of that journey into adulthood.
As an only daughter of an Indian Sikh father and a white British mother, growing up in 80s Birmingham Suzanne did not have the most conventional of childhoods. What she did have though was an upbringing which led her to believe she could achieve anything she set her mind to.
As a TV journalist, currently working for ITV News, Suzanne is often called up on to do talks in schools with young people and it was meeting these young people, and specifically girls, at these events which led to the idea of her new book A Girl’s Guide to Being Awesome.
