JIFMAR OFFSHORE SERVICES DP 1 Vessel JIF BREIZH Successfully Completed Her First Contract in Taiwan Working for Jan De Nul
Group in the Formosa 2 OWF Early 2020, JIFMAR OFFSHORE SERVICES signed a significant contract with his client JAN DE NUL GROUP to support the operations on FORMOSA 2 – offshore wind farm – project in TAIWAN.
In less than a month, JIF BREIZH, a shallow draft DP1 workboat, was prepared and safely loaded on a heavy lift vessel in Antwerp – Belgium. After 38 days of transit, the vessel arrived in Taichung port, Taiwan.
Mobilization of the crew was achieved in difficult conditions as global Pandemic of COVID-19 started during the transit and had a severe impact on our activities. Despite the strict travel restrictions in place, we were able to create a crew change rotation involving several quarantine procedures in place. Success of this project has required a lot of cooperation between our client Jan De Nul Group, Formosa 2, our teams in Taiwan, the French representation in Taiwan and the Taiwanese authorities.
Thanks to her 37-meter length, large deck space of 236 m2
and very shallow
draft of 2m, 21 tons bollard pull and 19 bunks JIF Breizh supported Jan De Nul Group export cable pull-in landfall Horizontal Direction Drilling operations for 3 months. For this particular scope of work, the vessel needed to fall dry multiple times in order to collect the HDD drill head. These various scopes have required a lot of pre-engineering both from Jan De Nul Group and JIFMAR Offshore Services engineering department.
JIFMAR is growing and goes international, started in Europe and
active in West Africa for several years, JIFMAR took over two companies in Scotland in the recent years. The Company took the first step in East Asia by signing a MoU with the Japanese DOKAI MARINE, JIFMAR continues its growth overseas with this contract and demonstrates its ability to support its clients worldwide.
JIF BREIZH is expected to remain in East Asia after completing this contract to support the booming renewable industry in the region.
In this particular context and pandemic situation, JIFMAR is doing its best to keep a continuity of operations and has set up a vessel contingency plan, in order to keep its crews and clients as safe as possible because JIFMAR is “safety always”. All these efforts have led to a Bureau Veritas COVID-19 certification as the first shipowner in France.
