Spring, Summer, Winter or Fall. My reply is that Tenby is a town for all seasons, but winter has the edge. If you want to lie on one of Tenby’s four golden beaches under an azure sky and swim in the clear cool sea, come in summer. If you want to enjoy fine walking weather, spring and autumn are ideal times to visit and base your- self in Tenby while walking the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path. If you want to have the place to yourself, then winter is the best time. Contrary to popular opinion, Tenby does not enter into hiberna- tion after the summer season. The resident population relax and enjoy the peace and quiet that winter brings. You can join them and explore the town and countryside without having to battle against hundreds of other people doing the same thing. Tenby Museum and Art Gallery, the town’s most important tourist attrac- tion, is usually open all year (but is currently closed because of the pandemic), welcoming discerning visitors who wish to learn more about the ‘little fort of the fish’ (Dinbych-y-Pysgod). Pick up a copy of the ‘Tenby Historical Trail’ published by Tenby Civic Society for a self-guided tour of the town or avail yourself of the services of a Blue Badge Guide for a more personalised tour. Service in shops, hotels and guesthouses is at its best in the winter period as the pressure of summer is long past. People have more time to talk and are friendlier towards visitors out of season. What about the weather I hear you ask. Well yes, Wales does

Why not pop down for a long weekend and see exactly what I mean. I’m sure you will fall in love with my town for all seasons and will soon return for a longer holiday.

religious heritage. A small chapel existed on the promontory of the tidal rock. Catherine was the patron saint of spinners and weavers. It is believed that there were also two hermit’s cells there. By 1856 the island was owned by the Corporation and inhabited by agile sheep, but by 1870 the fort was completed and armed; one of a chain of fortresses around the coast to fend off French invasion, particularly as the Royal Dockyard at Pembroke

It is hard to imagine how this pretty floral village may have resembled a sea port, but in Norman times, boats used to navigate the river to trade with the village and the corn water mill near the ford. There is a stone on the High Street where it is said that ships were tethered. Close to the village are a number of major leisure attractions.
