Hop aboard the Trip Advisor No.1 ranked activity in Tenby, the Purpose Built and Wildlife Friendly Jetboat, Seal Safari!

AUGUST/SEPTEMBER TENBY TIDE TABLES 0210

Licensed to carry 23 passengers on comfortable inboard seats, Seal Safari is suitable for all ages. She leaves Tenby Harbour daily on a one hour cruise to explore the many hidden bays of Caldey Island. Qualified and experienced local guides share an

in-depth knowledge of the island’s wildlife, history and surrounding waters.

Goscar Rock.

Norse-named Goscar Rock, the miniature mountain in the middle of North Beach, should also be treated with respect: a seven-year-old boy got stuck for hours when attempting to climb it last February. He was rescued by firefighters, helped by the police, and the coastguard helicopter landed on the beach to give medical assistance. By the way, if you espy a large sand circle, don’t think it is the work of aliens, however precise or intricate! It is far more likely to be the work of Welsh artist Marc Treanor.

Cave through St. Catherine’s Island

As you admire the coves, cliffs, caves and passages, it’s easy to imagine the widespread smuggling around the Pembrokeshire coast in bygone days. An early 17th century document mentions the French traders who brought uncustomed wine into Pembrokeshire ports. During the

century that followed, Cliffs, walls and terraces.

Tenby folk from all walks of life were involved in smuggling, which apparently went on quite openly at Caldey Island, with Fench brandy as a typical contraband.

Quite a different sort of smuggling is said to have taken place in 1471. The White family used tunnels running under St. Mary’s Church and their house, Jasperley House (now Boots Chemist), to hide future king Henry Tudor. His uncle and guardian, Jasper Tudor, Earl of Pembroke, used Tenby Harbour to flee with the 14- year-old Henry during the Wars of the Roses.

Boats landing on Caldey leave regularly, bookable at the harbour. Other boat trips take you on a seal safari, or a cruise around the island or a romantic sunset cruise. Or if you like to sail,
