Easy Conservation Projects

From Saturday 25th July to Sunday 2nd you can join this year’s Sea Watch National Whale and Dolphin Watch by choosing a safe coastal spot and observing/recording any cetacean sightings. Identification sheets, recording forms and more guidelines can be found here:

The Big Butterfly Count is a UK wide survey to assess the health of our environment by counting the amount and type of butterflies and day-flying moths which runs until Sunday 9th August. A great family activity, all you need is a 15 minute period either in your garden or out-and-about and your responses can be logged on the mobile app.

You can become a citizen scientist by helping the Shark Trust to find and record shark eggcases as part of the year- round Great Eggcase Hunt. Visit the website for eggcase hunting tips and details on how to upload your findings.

The RSPB has compiled a comprehensive list of resources for wildlife friendly activities that can easily be carried out at home from creating bird feeders, mini-ponds and hedgehog cafes to ideas for upcycling.
