n these challenging times, it’s more important than ever that we show gratitude to others for whatever reason – however small.

As President John F Kennedy once said, ‘We must find time to stop and thank the people who make a difference in our lives’, so, with that in mind, here are just a few of the lovely actions and comments that have made everyone appreciate life just a little more…

During this crisis, we have witnessed many acts of kindness. In addition to the cakes, buns, sweets and boxes of chocolates that we received, on four occasions, customers who were getting OTC items delivered, declined to take their change and told us to give it to the staff. Perhaps the best example of kindness was a lady, who had received a shielding letter, and asked us to deliver her scripts going forward. she then presented us with a thank you card with £80 in it. Domino’s Pizzas also sent us free pizzas for lunch one Thursday. Dave Finlay of Hilden Pharmacy, Lisburn

Mc Atamneys Butcher’s in Limavady kindly provided and donated lunches to our staff throughout these challenging times. This was so very generous of them and was greatly appreciated by all staff. It certainly brightened up our days knowing that we had a lovely lunch to look forward to. Also, Roe Rovers Football Club in the town presented hampers to key workers in Limavady, which was fantastic and very much appreciated. Andrea, Medicare, Limavady

McAtamneys brought us trays of hot food every day – fantastic dishes such as rice, ribs and creamy chicken. It was so kind of them to think of us at this time and our staff really appreciated it. Clare Henderson, Gordons Chemist, Limavady

The community really came together to help create the partition in the pharmacy and we received many offers of help with deliveries etc. From the outset, the customers were very helpful and supportive, which undoubtedly made the whole process easier for everyone concerned. It really brought the community together as a whole Shane O’Hare, Strangford Pharmacy

The local hospital was recruiting nurses and someone rang me asking about accommodation. I was able to provide the name of a landlord, but some nurses were going into the houses with nothing and so the pharmacy donated toiletries, make-up etc. It was the least we could do to help these fellow professionals. I am also very grateful to my staff. Two employees, in particular, had vulnerable people at home, but gave up their home life and their holidays during that period to continue working in the pharmacy. A sterling effort by all concerned! Paul Hughes, Hughes Pharmacy, Enniskillen

I am so grateful for the staff that I have. each and every one of them remained so positive throughout the whole process and continue to do so.

The first question on everyone’s lips was ‘What can we do to help here? How do we up the ante?’ Our customer service is always good, but during these challenging times, it has been exceptional. I am very fortunate to have these employees and it is clear that our customers are also extremely grateful to them all. Eoghan O’Brien, Bannside Pharmacy, Portglenone

The Strangford community helped Shane O’Hare with the pharmacy’s partition.
