Kerry Logistics Network has set up a new joint venture in Sri Lanka. Kerry Logistics Lanka is headquartered in Colombo and also has a bonded facility and export offi ce for at Bandaranaike International Airport. Services off ered include air and ocean freight, customs brokerage, inland trucking, multi-country consolidation, project cargo, warehousing, pick/pack, purchase order management, quality control, packaging and labelling, garment-on-hangers and entrepôt services.


German forwarder the Rhenus Group has acquired Scandinavian business Swedlink. The company has offi ces in Stockholm and Malmö.


Whistl and UKP Worldwide are collaborating to off er their customers a customs clearance service for international mail and parcels. The collaboration enables both their customer’s goods to pass through UK customs-approved processes without unnecessary delay. It covers international mail, packets and parcels through both tracked and untracked service options and fully managed returns from certain countries. UKPW also has an agreement with the United States Postal Service (USPS) allowing customers direct access to its facility in New Jersey.

Essex-based Woodland Group is off ering an express LCL groupage service from the US West Coast to the UK via Chicago. Door to door transit is from 23 days, up to 30% shorter transit time compared with all water services. Woodland is also launching a new service between the UK and Scandinavia. There will be groupage departures from the UK on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday to Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland, along with part and full load services.


Nottingham-based Baxter Freight has appointed Luke Braddow as its new UK operations manager. His role involves working with Baxter Freight’s network of long-term partners and suppliers for the UK and Ireland.


Freight forwarder Gefco has appointed Paul-Henri Fréret as executive vice president of its air and sea division. Current managing director of French operations, Cyril Lefebvre has been promoted to global sales and marketing director for the air and sea division. Serge Kisselevsky is now industry market line manager, while Adrian Draghici is market line manager for automotive.

The U-Freight Group has been cheered by a report by the UN’s trade and development body, UNCTAD, which puts estimated 2018 e-commerce sales at 30% of global gross domestic product (GDP) that year. The forwarder, which has a considerable involvement in e-commerce logistics, says that the latest statistics showing that global e-commerce sales hit US$25.6 trillion in 2018 are a further vindication of its decision to enter this sector of the international freight market several years ago.

The U-Freight Group has appointed Ong Boon Seong as a director of U-Freight Logistics Sdn Bhd to increase its presence in cross- border logistics between Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore. Based at U-Freight Logistics branch offi ce in Johor Bahru in Malaysia, Ong will be responsible for the development of a comprehensive portfolio of bonded trucking services, including Customs clearance at the border between the three countries. He will also be responsible for developing U-Freight’s e-commerce logistics services in Malaysia.


DSV has launched an e-Commerce Solutions service aimed at medium- sized companies. It integrates all the solutions an e-Commerce business needs – warehousing, automation, IT solutions and fulfi lment – in scalable, multi-user warehouses., building upon the e-Commerce services that DSV already provides, to serve end customers directly.
