Dartmouth Castle Impossible to miss, Dartmouth Castle provides the focal point for many postcard shots of the Dart Estuary. Dating from 1488, it once protected the town from potential naval attack by a combination of a chain slung across the river mouth and a formidable collection of artillery. The castle and St Petrox Church are a must-see for anyone visiting the town. They can be accessed either by taking a short walk/drive from the Harbour Office or by the Castle ferry from Dartmouth Quay (opposite Rockfish). Also a Café with spectacular views across the Castle.

Britannia Royal Naval College With an intriguing heritage spanning over 150 years, the BRNC is an essential place to visit for anyone with an interest in British history. Since 1863, Dartmouth and the River Dart have been the home of initial Naval Officer training in the UK – today, the BRNC is the only remaining Naval College in the country, fulfilling a vital role in training Naval cadets not only from Britain but those from the Commonwealth and all over the world. The Flavel Arts Centre With a growing reputation as one of the best small arts venues in Devon, the Flavel has entertainment every day, from live music and comedy, to lunchtime concerts and cinema. Bayard’s Cove Originally Dartmouth’s only wharf, Bayards Cove is a picturesque area protected by a fort at the southern end of the town. A perfect spot to indulge in a drink by the river at the Dartmouth Arms or Bayards Cove Inn, or enjoy an hour or two of crabbing!
Market Square Dartmouth Market is set in the heart of historic Dartmouth. The traditional farmers’ market runs on the second Saturday of every month and is a must- see for visitors and locals alike. A variety of shops, stalls and cafés are open all week.
