Twenties—and a new decade full of possibilities!

TITAS/DANCE UNBOUND started off the north Texas dance season in

late January with Delfos

Danza Contemporánea, Mexico’s premiere contemporary dance company and is followed by a bevy of performances by area companies, including Full Circle Dance, a company founded in 2018 by Tiffanee Arnold. See them in

their first February 8th at The Charles Eisemann Center.

The scholarship deadline is rapidly approaching on February 9th so be sure to check out all the details on our website. Speaking of— we caught up with a few of our alumni. Find out what they are up to on pages 12 - 13!

In 2020, America celebrates the 100th Anniversary of Women’s Suffrage. Various choreographers have decided to mark the event with pieces celebrating women getting the right to vote, among them Katie Puder’s

full-length concert: The Premiere on

19th Amendment. Her company, Avant Chamber Ballet, will perform it as part of their program Valentine’s weekend, which includes Paul Mejia’s romantic and tragic one-act Romeo & Juliet. What a great way to spend a date!

On the subject of women, sort of—the zany troupe Les Ballet Trockadero de Monte Carlo returns to Irving Arts Center at the end of the month. If you’ve never caught their act, it’s a must-see! If you have, see them again—their take on classical ballets will have you rolling in the aisles.

Chamberlain Ballet celebrates their thirty-fifth year with a weekend of performances in early April, featuring works by Jamal Story, Brandi Coleman, and scheduled guest appearances by Chamberlain alumni. Beckles Dancing Company also celebrates their twenty-fifth anniversary later in the month with ANNI25! Find out more about these and all upcoming performances on pages 18 - 21.

Dance Council has some great new projects in the works in 2020. Look for more details by subscribing to CenterStage and liking us on social media at thedancecouncil.org.
