Snodland Town makes progress on facilities

WORK is progressing apace on Snodland Town Football Club’s new changing rooms and hospi- tality facilities. Construction started on the structure last May but as yet, partly due to recent bad weather, no completion date is scheduled. The scheme is funded by the

FA, the Snodland Partnership, fundraising and donations. The club plays in the Southern Counties East Football League and the new building will satisfy its requirements to compete at that level and to progress higher. A metal-framed structure was

in place by early December with the brickwork started soon after. A club spokesman said: “This is

a major step in the club’s history, as it will make us totally self- contained within the ground. It will also enable the club to move forward in its ambition to reach a higher level in the national foot-

ball pyramid.” Club chairman, Dave Jeal, com- mented. “This is a momentous step forward in the club’s history and my grateful thanks goes to those within the club who put in a great deal of time and effort to achieve this moment. “Thanks must also go to several supporters of the club who have also given time or donations to- wards this project.” Progress is likely to be slower during the winter months.

FIXTURES

Snodland Town FC’s next fixtures are:

Jan 25 STFC v Meridian VP Feb 1 Holmesdale v STFC Feb 8 SC Thamesmead v STFC Feb 15 STFC v Stansfield (All 3pm KO)

A spokesman said: “It’s unfor-

tunate that we are now in one of the worst periods of the year for the building trade, as days are short and the weather varying from rain to frost and bitter cold. “We have, however, com- menced with the brick and block work which will include floor bearing walls. Restricted site ac- cess will cause further delays but our next major work includes the laying of the block and beam floor and cladding the entire building with composite sheeting.”
