and lost coin in Holy Word Studio, where children heard Scripture and physically crawled through a maze to find the lost coins. Discussion of asking for forgiveness and maintaining a close relationship with God are weekly occurrences.

Lost sheep were again the subject in Spirit Studio, where music and movement helped children examine the reckless love of God, who would do anything to be in relationship with us. Children played ukuleles and other rhythm instruments.

Creation Station revealed the parable of the talents, where children were introduced to the Scripture through a short video and adaptation of a “Godly Play” script about parables. Tey followed up with sanding and painting a “Talent Toolbox” containing ways to share their talents.

Te parable of the prodigal son was the focus of all four stations through munching on popcorn and watching an animated movie of the parable, creating forgiveness sculptures, acting out the story, and participating in the celebration of the prodigal’s return.

Preparing for Christ

DIG’s Advent series was all about telling the story of the Jesus’ birth and adding straw to the manger anytime we said kind words and acted for another.

Children created “Journey” ornaments to help retell the birth story in Matthew and Luke; participated in a bucket band, strummed a ukulele; added joyful voices to “Go Tell It on the Mountain”; prayed for local, national, and international mission projects; and delivered the breaking news story at “Channel FPC Allentown.”

Te expanding DIG crew requires many hands to lead children on their faith journeys. Consider being a part of this vibrant ministry and sharing the Gospel with our youngest congregants. Come out and join us in DIG!

TWEENS IN ACTION

Somebody must have put something in the water our tweens have been drinking—tween ministry is growing like weeds at FPCA. On any given Sunday, tweens and faithful shepherd Erica Simmons gather in their specially designated In“B”Tween Café, a.k.a. Room 211, where hot chocolate, doughnuts, and snacks abound, along with conversations about everyone’s week.

Tweens—fourth- and-fifth grade children—are part of DIG and have opportunity to dive deeper into the Bible as their age demands. Tweens ask questions, share real-life experiences, and explore how their faith affects decision-making in the world. Each month, tweens have the opportunity to engage in In”B”Tween events focused on mission, faith, fun, and fellowship. In “B”Tween events led by tween advisers Ashley Dymond and Charal Steele are scheduled on various days of the week to allow tweens with busy schedules and standing commitments to participate.

To date, tweens have tie-dyed tween shirts, participated in Service Saturday (see page 6), navigated Seiple’s Corn Maze, and visited the Sixth Street Shelter to create holiday stockings and share personal care items and small gifts.

We look forward to upcoming tween events such as the annual Tween Pretzel Sale. Join us in making some pretzel dough for tweens to fashion into pretzels and sell in support of our newly sponsored child from Malawi, Akim Muyambeni, age five.
