Ridge & Partners LLP, an award-winning, multi- discipline property and construction consultancy, has announced the senior appointment of Patric Vale as a partner in the Oxford cost management team with a focus on the healthcare and science sectors. Vale brings over 15 years of construction expertise and joins Ridge from construction consultancy AECOM, where he was head of the Oxford office cost management team, specialising in delivering services in healthcare, science and higher education.

Accountancy and business advisory firm BDO is set to recruit a record number of new trainees in Southampton next year. Applications are now open for 25 new roles which will be based in the firm’s Southampton office and split across four key programmes: graduate, apprenticeship, summer school and summer intern. The majority of both apprentice and graduate trainees are able to undertake a level-7 apprenticeship programme – a qualification equivalent to a master’s degree. This news comes just months after it was announced that a third of BDO’s regional workforce had been promoted in the past three years.
Capture, a leading digital asset management provider, has announced a significant strengthening of its management team as it gears up for the next chapter of growth, and advances towards its 20-year anniversary as a solution provider for some of the world’s leading brands. The management team of the Reading-based company will now be led by new CEO Nick Caw, who previously worked for Microsoft, and has 20 years’ experience building growth-orientated technology organisations. The team is being further boosted by the appointment of Simon Mallindine as chief technology officer (CTO). Mallindine, who has been a member of the Capture team since 2017, steps up to join the board of directors, bringing significant knowledge and expertise in the software, IT and creative industries. Capture’s founder, Abbie Enock, who developed and launched the company’s first software suite in 2000, is stepping up to take on the role of chairman.
A trade association representing the insolvency and restructuring profession in southern England has a new chairman. Garry Lee (centre), recovery and restructuring senior manager at the South Coast office of accountancy firm Smith & Williamson, was formally appointed at the AGM of R3 Southern and Thames Valley Region. Mike Pavitt, corporate restructuring partner at law firm Paris Smith, handed over the reins to Lee, who was previously vice-chair, following a three-year tenure. Heather Dobson, partner and head of insolvency and restructuring at law firm Moore Blatch, was appointed the new vice-chair.

Amanda Myatt has been appointed as the KPMG head of retail for the south region. Myatt has been with the firm for 22 years, initially beginning her career in audit, before specialising in transaction services. In her most recent role as retail lead for transaction services across London and the south, Myatt provided due diligence support on numerous major retail transactions including: the acquisition of Crew Clothing by Exquisite Apparel; Naked Wines plc’s disposal of the Majestic Wine retail store estate; the sale of a minority stake in Wasabi Sushi Bento; and the sale of Gill Marine.
Eastleigh-based Utilita Energy has appointed a new head of legal in a move to provide proactive and in-depth legal advice to support the firm’s continuous growth and ensure it continues to uphold the highest of legal standards for all customers, clients and employees. James Salmon, who previously worked as a solicitor and as in-house legal counsel at Serocor Solutions, joined Utilita to support contracts, work with the regulatory team and ensure customers get the fairest deal on their energy. His experience in managing sensitive cases, ensuring compliance with robust commercial contracts and providing expert advice on risk mitigation and prevention will complement his role at the energy provider.
