Meet Peter Jacobsen


of Wasa Real Estate In this issue, we talk to Peter Jacobsen from Wasa Real Estate and get to know what makes them so different.


Peter, can you tell me a bit of the history behind Wasa Real Estate? I joined what was then Wasa Realty 1986 as Sales Director. We were then and remain specialists in the sale of properties in Nueva Andalucia´s Golf Valley which is where our office is located. I purchased what became the WASA Real Estate trademark in September 2012 and have since enjoyed running the company in what was a steadily improving market to the very active, strong market it is today. I have kept our company profile of over 30 years and still specialise in the sale of villas, townhouses, apartments and plots of land between Marbella - San Pedro and Nueva Andalucía/Puerto Banús in particular. A completely new aspect to Wasa Real Estate is that next month we will also have an excellent selection of fine properties for sale in Sotogrande in collaboration with a top local agency. Being from Stockholm myself, the majority of our clients come from Scandinavia, although we have a significant amount of clients from the UK, Holland, Belgium, Germany and Russia.


You offer lots of advice on your website about what’s involved when buying a property. Do many people go into the buying process without realising what’s involved? We strongly recommend that our clients always use a lawyer when they buy a property as added security for them and to ensure that there are no hidden legal surprises along the way. My wife Laura Raya Plazas is our ¨in house¨ lawyer.

We inform our clients of the purchasing process from a very early stage & what the total costs involved in a transaction are. Te buying process here tends to be different to the country our clients have come from, as can be expected. We take great care when recommending third parties such as interior designers etc to our clients. When we do, the person or company involved is well tested by us, which saves our clients a lot of time and potential problems. It´s all part of the package at WASA Real Estate and our clients will receive professional service, sound expertise and genuine advice in all departments. We have a 30+ year track record to prove this is the case. We are more than aware of the fact that when a person is new to the area, the Spanish language and customs, it´s not always easy to get things done properly, to know where to turn or who to speak to. Tis is where our clients can feel confident that any recommendations we offer are an extension of ourselves.


Where do you think are good areas to purchase in just now? We have chosen to specialize in the Marbella-San Pedro and Nueva Andalucía/Puerto Banus area in particular because we genuinely believe that these areas are as good as it gets, with a proven track record of over 40 years. We have every service we need here within a few minutes, the standard of schools, restaurants and services in general are high and it´s an extremely cosmopolitan area. We also have some of the best golf


courses and sports facilities on the Coast here, this is the place to be! Marbella, Te Golden Mile and Puerto Banus are already global brands. Tis area is affluent and strong in every sense with a significant proportion of permanent foreign residents in business here, many with children enrolled in the excellent private schools available, which leads to stability even in difficult times.


What would you say sets you apart from the competition? At WASA Real Estate we understand that we are dealing with intelligent, well informed people oſten in business themselves. Terefore, we treat our clients as such and see our role as experts in the local real estate market and to invite our clients to make a relaxed, considered and well informed decision. We listen carefully, offer sound advice and do our utmost to find the right property at a realistic price to suit the individual´s criteria and circumstances. We work long term and like to build a relationship of trust with the client. Tis policy has resulted in that approximately 35% of all our clients come to us by way of referral, which I think speaks for itself.
