First Glasgow has embarked on a new partnership with Developing the Young Workforce Glasgow (DYW) which will see it link-up with a high school in the north of the city

Duncan Cameron, introduced Engineering Modern Apprentice, David Watson, now in his third year, to pupils and staff at the school. They both spoke about life working for the city’s biggest bus operator, the modern apprenticeship scheme and why a career in the transport industry is an attractive option for school leavers. Duncan said: “First Glasgow is

Academy through DYW Glasgow, we will be able to offer pupils at the school assistance with career choice options

tie-up between First Glasgow and John Paul Academy in Summerston will offer opportunities to pupils to develop
through a number of engagement programmes, including assembly presentations, careers fairs, information events, practical work experience and awareness sessions.”

operator in the city, running services on more than 80 routes throughout the greater Glasgow and Lanarkshire areas. The company operates more than 800 buses and carries more than 95 million passengers a year. First Glasgow employs around 2,100 staff at five depots in Dumbarton, Gorbals, Scotstoun, Overtown and Blantyre. More than 70 per cent of customers pay using cashless methods for their travel, such as mTicket, Smartcard or contactless payments.
