"Comments from the President"

If you have been designing or pur- chasing investment castings for many years ... then the comments

in this column might not apply to you.

But if you are using investment castings for only one or two applications ... or if invest- ment castings are relatively new to you ... we have a suggestion which may save you money.

It is simply this: TALK TO YOUR INVEST- MENT CASTING SUPPLIER BEFORE YOU FINALIZE YOUR DESIGN AND SPECIFICATIONS.

Your investment casting supplier may not understand your product line ... but he can tell you about good design and good alloy selection for investment cast parts. Or ... as we are discussing in this issue of "TRENDS" he may be able to show you how you can eliminate costly secondary operations through the use of investment castings.

Sometimes a change in alloy can bring better yield and lower the price. The change in alloy may even improve the serviceability of the component. In other cases, the small change in design which will not affect the functioning of the component, may result in a higher yield-and lower costs.

We know that you buy investment castings for quality components. You can maximize the quality . . . and still save money through design and alloy selection which are of maxi- mum compatability with the investment cast- ing process.

We invite you to "SAVE MONEY WITH INVESTMENT CASTINGS"-by consultinO' your investment castings supplier in advanc; Naturally ... we hope you will be consult- ing with investment casting manu-

facturers who are members of '' the ICI.
