FutureScot’s Digital Justice & Policing conference has received wide acclaim from justice and transformation practitioners in Scotland. Te full day conference,


which took place at Te Shera- ton Hotel in Edinburgh on October 29, was rated highly for its content by delegates, speakers and exhibitors. Keith Dargie, Chief Digital


Officer at Te Crown Office & Procurator Fiscal Service, said: “It was a pleasure to be part of the speakers and to participate in the conference. 19,000 council tenants to get full fibre broadband


The City of Edinburgh Council and CityFibre will work together to help tenants take advantage of a new gigabit-speed fibre network being built across the Capital. Full fibre digital networks,


providing connectivity at gigabit speeds, are recognised to be the digital infrastructure of the future


for homes and businesses. Te rollout of CityFibre’s Gigabit City programme comes at a time when the UK Government is calling for 100% coverage across the country by 2025 or even earlier. Te City of Edinburgh Council


has agreed to work with City- Fibre to install full fibre to its


homes, ensuring the network build can go ahead smoothly and tenants can access the connectiv- ity faster. Tis will see around 19,000 so-


cial housing properties access full fibre, as part of CityFibre’s pledge to put the technology within reach of almost every home and business in the city. l


African schools to benefit from used Scottish Government hardware


Education initiatives in Africa are set to benefit from used Scottish Government computer hardware. Schools, communities and edu-


cation projects in sub-Saharan Af- rica are to receive used computer equipment from the Scottish


Government thanks to a partner- ship with the Turing Trust charity. Te equipment, which is no


longer suitable for corporate use within the government, includes computers, mobile phones and tablets, and will be sent to Ma-


lawi, Ghana and Liberia. Te Turing Trust, co-founded


by James Turing in honour of his great uncle, the World War 2 codebreaker Alan Turing, recently took delivery of the first 100 com- puters, mice and keyboards. l
