Local Brain Cancer Research Foundation Donates to Cause

Hampton, VA - On Saturday,
September 14th, the Gamma Upsilon Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. celebrated 75 years of service to the community by hosting its Diamond Anniversary Breakfast at First Baptist Church of Hampton located in Hampton, VA. Sixteen ladies who had the vision and fortitude to challenge the status quo in educational, social, cultural, economic and
human relations founded the
chapter in 1944. The keynote speaker for the event was “Hidden Figure” and Gamma Upsilon Omega member, Dr. Christine Darden. Other renowned attendees included Hampton Mayor Donnie

The Ivy Foundation of Hampton, Inc., which is an educational and charitable
organization established
by members of the Gamma Upsilon Omega Chapter, also donated $750 to the American Red Cross for the Bahamas Disaster Relief Fund. The donation was presented to American Red Cross Board Member Leila Holt.

The "Malinda Brown Foundation for Brain Cancer Research 3rd Annual Valentine's Day Fundraiser" was a GREAT SUCCESS this year. The community’s support made it possible for the foundation to donate $1000 to each the American Brain Tumor Association, the CancerCare Co-Payment Assistance Foundation and the Emily Couric Clinical Cancer Center. With organized fundraisers
and support from friends and family the
foundation can further their
mission to advocate and raise funds for brain cancer research and to provide support and information
to those

ACLS Certification Institute is offering
a 2,500
scholarship to a
student enrolled or accepted to medical school, dental school, or nursing school. We want applicants to submit ideas to improve mental health awareness such as a system they would change, or a service/program
