Rotary Club of Corstorphine

The Rotary Club of Corstorphine is part of World Wide Rotary which is involved in working with local communities and International Projects such as, The End Polio Now Campaign which is through partnership working with the Bill Gates Foundation. The Rotary Club of Corstorphine is a local group of men and women who are actively involved in supporting and raising funds for local voluntary groups within North West Edinburgh.

The Club raises funds through a variety of activities - bucket collections at local supermarkets, providing wrist bands for children at the Royal Highland Show, Christmas Fayre at the Scout Hall on Corstorphine High Street etc. The members are also involved in a number of projects eg driving the bus for the Your Never Too Old Project, watering and maintaining the flowers and planters at the South Gyle Train Station, raising funds for Poppy Scotland at Edinburgh Airport and also number of members have a leading role with the Corstorphine Fair.

The Club also works in partnership with local schools and youth organisations and organises a number of Youth competitions on an annual basis: Young Citizen, Young Golfer and Young Musician. We would like to expand the opportunities for young people to get

involved and are currently looking

at potentially arranging Young Chef and Young Photographer competitions. We have also successfully ran an annual Technology Tournament for a number of

years with

secondary schools from all over Edinburgh taking part.

Club members are involved in preparing school pupils for the world of work through participating in “Mock Interviews” and providing “Encyclopaedias for Life” annually to pupils in a number of local Primary schools.

Members meet every week for a meal and a social get together with a programme of talks, presentations and discussions at the Murrayfield Hotel on a Tuesday evening. In addition to this members also take part in a number of social activities (International Night, visits to places of interest etc) and Rotary competitions (golf, curling, quiz nights).
