BILD Lethbridge members to come together and do something and give back to the community, specifically somebody who was in need,” says Bridget Mearns, Executive Officer of BILD Lethbridge Region. “It is such a collaboration of so many members, the first part was to secure the cabinet sponsor and design the kitchen, once that was designed the countertop and floor people came on board, and there are about 23 companies that are coming together tom make this all happen for this family.” When the contest


was in first thoughts, none of the organizers believed it would be as big as it has become. The thought of a simple renovation to


give people a space they needed has turned into a collaborative effort to push the budget as far as they can to help the single mother with a much needed renovation. “When the idea was first born, it was sort of a


kernel of an idea and now watching it blossom over the last five months, it is an amazing thing to watch,” says Mearns. “Our members are a generous group on their own, they do things for the community all the time, but this was a real personal touch and it really makes me proud and I feel really touched by how many people and businesses came together to help the Taylor family.” In the first week of September, Katie and her


two boys joined the construction team to start demolishing their outdated and unusable kitchen, to gut it out and start with a clean slate. Throughout the next few weeks, dozens of BILD Lethbridge members will be in the Taylor household to construct a brand new kitchen and living space for the family to spend some quality time cooking together.
