The Awards deadline approaches


Make sure you enter your company or staff into one of the 2019 Freight Service Awards


Have you made a start on your submission yet? The deadline for receipt of entries to all categories of the BIFA Freight Service Awards 2019 competition is now fast approaching and your completed entries must be submitted to BIFA by 11am on Tuesday 8 October. As a reminder, BIFA is looking for entries to compete for the following awards: • Project Forwarding Award – Sponsored by Peter Lole Insurance Brokers – if you have completed an out-of-gauge project or co-ordinated a complex movement needing specialised attention, we want to hear from you.


• Specialist Services Award – Sponsored by Forward Computers – This category is for services that are not modal specific, which could include warehousing, pick and pack, technology service, air or shipping line agency, or express services.


• Staff Development Award – Sponsored by Albacore Systems – In this category we are looking for the firm producing the freight forwarders of the future through a comprehensive staff training programme.


• Supply Chain Management Award – Sponsored by BoxTop Technologies – This category focuses on provision of a customer- focused, innovative solution enabling a more efficient and cost-effective management of the supply chain.


• Air Cargo Services Award – Sponsored by IAG Cargo – If your company has excelled in sending goods by air, or you have a story about customer fulfilment where logistics in the air is involved, this category is for you.


• European Logistics Award – Sponsored by TT Club – This category is for freight forwarders using road, shortsea or rail services to provide logistics solutions to and from Europe.


• Ocean Services Award – Sponsored by Port Express – If you have used ocean services either stand-alone or as part of a multimodal

shipment or service, we want to hear about something exceptional.


• Cool Award – Sponsored by American Airlines Cargo – This category is for specialist refrigerated freight services ranging from small high-value pharma products through to a large reefer container, by any mode of transport. Entries should demonstrate good practice and an important contribution to the advancement of the ‘cool’ chain.


• Extra Mile Award – Sponsored by Descartes – This category is for Members that can provide specific examples of ‘innovation’ and/or ‘customer care’ by adding value and exceeding their customer’s expectations.


BIFA Member companies may enter a


maximum of three of the above award categories (one entry per category).


Individual Awards In addition to the above categories, there are two Awards recognising the development of individuals within the freight forwarding community:


Awards ceremony


Finalists will be announced in late October and will attend the BIFA Annual Luncheon and Awards Ceremony in Central London on Thursday 16 January 2020 to receive their certificates and hear the winner of each category declared by the sponsor and celebrity host. Tickets will be on sale in October.


September 2019


• Apprentice of the Year Award – Sponsored by Seetec Outsource – for individuals employed by BIFA Member companies who are undertaking, or have recently completed, a professionally recognised apprenticeship framework, or standard, in logistics or freight forwarding.


• Young Freight Forwarder of the Year Award – Sponsored by Virgin Atlantic Cargo – for outstanding individuals under the age of 32 with a minimum of two years’ experience in freight forwarding.
