POLICE Wanted on Warrant?
There have been recent reports that people are receiving telephone calls stating that they are wanted on a police warrant. Unless you have been interviewed by the police, are avoiding the bailiffs, violated terms of your probation, this is a scam call. As we know phone calls can be faked and they often target vulnerable and elderly people who are more likely to panic and react. One particular call states that ‘they have received a complaint from HMRC’s tax department and there is now a warrant out for your arrest.
If the caller leaves a message asking you to call them back, please don’t, you can check with HMRC via
www.gov.uk if you are indeed wanted. You can forward any information on to the government ‘phishing team’ HMRC phishing team
phishing@hmrc.gov.uk.
