LIVE 24-SEVEN PISTON GIN A STRONG INDEPENDENT SPIRIT.

86

A distinctive and delicious blend of aromatics and botanicals, independent spirit, Piston won Gold, Silver and Bronze medallions for its full range of Gins at the reputable 2019 San Francisco World Spirit Competition.

Establishing Piston's Worcester Porcelain Works distillery little under a year ago, entrepreneur Nick Weatherall originally founded Piston as a passion project. A successful industrialist, known for his work in real estate, Nick fell in love with the seductive art of cooking Gin, by chance, one Summer in Salcombe.

Purchasing a collector’s edition, Arnold Harsein Aluminium Distiller (shortly after discovering his signature blend of London Dry Gin) the bare bricked studio Nick works from is a hive of activity. Classes of students travel to his space to create their unique handcrafted Gin and taste more of Pistons spicy, sweet and textured blends, week after week. A small family of dedicated team members work behind the scenes, distilling litres of Piston's juniper berry-infused alcohol. Growing his range from that first experimental, home-made Dry Gin recipe, to five more delicious flavours, Pistons exotic tasting notes extend from Gold medal winner Oak-Aged to all-natural Strawberry and Hibiscus.

Reflecting on these first few months of production, Nick still feels like there is so much more he has yet to achieve. "At the San Fran world spirit competition, we were the only Gin brand to present so many flavours in the first year of business. We went on to win an award for each one of them. Our ingredients come from all over the world. The hibiscus flower has come from Nigeria. The seaweed is from the north coast of Spain, our coriander seeds are sourced from Spain, blackberries are English, there's even wild Chinese rhubarb root."
