Advertising Feature Office Recycling Bins - Redesigned and Optimised

Method have redesigned recycling for the modern space to effectively change behaviours. One organisation in New Zealand increased recycling rates from 30% to 70% with the introduction of Method’s designer bins. Method’s co-founders Steven and India

Korner consistently saw offices who wanted to recycle without the tools to be successful. They believed that a well designed bin could make a difference - and it has. Leading organisations around the world have implemented Method’s innovative bins to recycle more and waste less. As well as saving time, money and plastic with Method’s leading philosophy of Open Plan Recycling.

Visibility

Open Plan Recycling brings recycling and waste bins out into the open plan layout of modern spaces. Method’s colour-coded bins are placed together to form flexible recycling stations to be located throughout a space. Recycling becomes a part of the furniture, out in the open constantly serving as a reminder for people to consider their waste behaviours and generating conversations about recycling. Further, the bins become a visible

statement of your organisations commitment to recycling and sustainability.

Method generally recommends one recycling station per 30 - 50 employees, which should be less than a 10-second walk away. Making all waste and recycling streams easily available. They also suggest placing single bins or smaller stations where recyclables are produced such as a paper bin next to the photocopier or an organics bin in the kitchen to maximise results.

Accountability

Being out in the open means that users are going to consider what bin their waste and recyclables should go in. This is often unconscious as even the thought of being visible to others makes us more accountable. This has been one of the key factors Method has found for success with their bins.

A New Method

Method’s bins can be found around the world in a variety of different spaces from stadiums such as the Sydney Cricket Ground to the offices of Foster + Partners. Most recently, Method have been working closely with The Office Group in London to implement Method bins across all of their coworking spaces. Coworking spaces have the difficult task of creating systems that work for an array of clients with unique needs. Canva, the global design giant, found that

“Method’s beautiful bins allow the sometimes daunting task of having four waste and recycling options to be manageable and scalable across our ever-expanding offices.”
