FRAMLINGHAM ST JOHN Read
We’re seeking new volunteers to help provide first aid in the local community. Volunteering with St John Ambulance means you can be the difference between a life lost and a life saved, whether it’s by helping a member of your family, a neighbour or someone visiting this beautiful part of Suffolk. As well as first aid and radio communications training, uniformed volunteers attend a variety of events in the region where they meet lots of people, make lifelong friendships and experience life changing situations.

If you’re over 18 years old and are interested in becoming a volunteer, go to
www.sja.org. uk for more information. We also know you’re never
too young to learn first aid. Our Badgers in Framlingham, who are all local children aged seven to 10 years old, are now working towards their First Aid Badger and Active Badger. We have made paper skeletons, stress balls and learnt all about the heart and circulatory system. Our very grateful thanks to Clare Hassler for our special keep fit evening where the Badgers were able to take part in circuit training and other activities.
Congratulations to Hannah

In addition, colleagues around Suffolk took part in one of the biggest duties in the county each year – the Suffolk Show. Their teamwork, as ever, was excellent and, at the time of writing, the achievements and commitment of all volunteers around the country are being celebrated during National Volunteers’ Week 2019. Summer first aid tips. With the summer months approaching and hopefully some more good weather, please make sure you check our website,
www.sja.org.uk,
for some summer first aid tips and ensure that you are ready and understand how to treat sunburn, sunstroke and other common conditions. You can also download our free first aid app to your Android phone, iPhone or Blackberry. This can also be found on our website or in your handset’s specific app store.
When large crowds gather for public events there needs to be first aid cover to ensure the safety and wellbeing of those attending. Our volunteers are trained in advanced first aid and life saving skills and attend many events each year. In the event of an accident or illness occurring, our volunteers' skills are vital in preventing further harm and saving lives. They provide essential support until the emergency services arrive. We’d
like to remind
organisers of events that the more notice you can give, the more likely we’ll be able
to provide the necessary first aid cover. At least six weeks’ notice is preferred. For further details call 01473 241500. Please note, with an increasing number of requests, it may not always be possible to provide the first aid cover as requested.
First aid training: Why not learn life saving skills here in Framlingham? By training locally, you can save transport and parking costs, as well as learn vital skills which could be the difference between a life lost and life saved. The courses include First Aid at Work,
