GRANTLEY HALL. . .

90

HOTEL-CLUB LE LAC D'ORIENT This new hotel is located just a few metres from the lake

(Lac d'Orient) and the beach at Mesnil-St-Pere. The 60 rooms will be set in small clusters throughout beautiful grounds whilst a pool, spa, sauna, solarium and of course a delicious restaurant serving up local cuisine will add to the experience. .

WHY MALMO, SWEDEN?

Once a herring-fishing destination now a cool, cosmopolitan city that has an injection of laid-back Scandinavian cool. This capital city of Sweden's Skane province is a real breath of fresh air. Many chef's are opening up exciting new restaurants whilst chic lifestyle boutiques are popping up around the city. Housed in an old freight depot, the Saluhall food hall is a destination for foodies and is buzzing at the weekend with people gathered around communal tables. Shop for interiors at Norrgavel and Olsson & Gerthel and stay at MJ's which is dripping with lavish interiors or Hotel Duxiana for a more Scandinavian aesthetic.

It is one of the most talked-about country openings this year, Grantley Hall is a 17th century Palladian-designed property in the heart of the idyllic Yorkshire countryside. It comes complete with a lake and English Heritage-listed Japanese Garden. 47 rooms and suites, a spa and wellness offering and no-less than seven diverse drinking and dining venues await guests. It opens in May....

HOLY WEEK IN ROME... Easter in Rome is a special and holy affair, but also busy. Easter Sunday and Monday are the two main Bank Holidays when some restaurants don't open, so best to check and pre-book. Thousands of pilgrims flood St Peter's Square before the evening Easter Vigil mass, the buzz of the crowd soon gives way to solemn celebration as once mass begins a calm settles over the entire congregation. Our editor spent Easter Sunday at Mass in the Basilica Papale di Santa Maria Maggoire and said it was a 'very moving experience'. If you do get chance to book a table at the Mirabelle restaurant (at the Hotel Splendide Royal), do. Expensive, but worth it! The views and atmosphere have moved guests to tears whilst the food is exquisite. Our editors favourite restaurant in the world.
