First pensions dashboard set for 2019

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has finally given the go ahead for the revolutionary pensions dashboard, with the first one expected to be introduced this year.

The pensions dashboard, which has seen multiple setbacks, will allow everyone to access and manage all their private pension

Stuart Price arrangements in one place along with their State Pension.

Stuart Price, Partner and Actuary at Quantum Advisory in Bristol, welcomes the long-awaited decision but says the government needs to ensure the project is properly managed. Stuart said: “The DWP has confirmed a body, supervised by the Single Financial Guidance Body, will be created to facilitate the introduction which is great news as, at one point, it was looking likely the industry would have to take control. While we would have gladly done this, without the proper authority no-one would be liable to provide pension data, making the dashboard futile. The government also needs to verify when the State Pension will be included in the dashboard so that individuals can see exactly how much they will be entitled to in retirement – the exact reason for which it was established.

“Hopefully, once inaugurated, the dashboard will work for everyone and encourage workers to save for their retirement where needed.”

Quantum Advisory provides pension and employee benefits services to employers, scheme trustees and members.
