SUSANNA RICHARDSON HAS EVERYTHING ORGANISED. . .
Susanna is a wedding and event planner who has been responsible for some of the most talked about parties both here and abroad. A former city girl, she's swapped her heels for the Cotswolds and we're delighted that she will be sharing her musings with us each month.
Seven years ago this month, I hung up my city heels and swapped them for Dubarry boots and a converted cow shed in a field. I recall the day fondly…Valentine’s 2012. After a heavy day of moving boxes, we looked out of the window to see a muntjac walking gracefully across our lawn. We knew then we’d found our spiritual home and it’s been truly wonderful exploring an area of outstanding natural beauty ever since.

Our sheepy neighbours and organic produce seem to have done wonders for me during that time, allowing me to write a book and grow my business; a business I am tremendously proud to have built from nothing and often pinch myself to remind me just how lucky I am.
THE LIFE OF A COUNTRY GIRL SOOTHES MY CRAZY MIND AND ALLOWS FOR SOME CALM IN A WORLD THAT IS UTTER MADNESS
You see, I plan wild and crazy parties and weddings in the UK and abroad. The kind of events you dream about throwing. Events filled with so much whimsy and abandon that I often think I live in some trippy wonderland. Of course, along with that comes stress on another level and funny stories that make me laugh daily. I don’t think anyone can enter the world of events without a wicked sense of humour and an ability to laugh at one’s self in order to ease the bruised ego along the way.
My husband proclaims to people that I am a “professional arguer” and it’s this that led me to sit and write my book “The Honest Planner” about all the non-fluffy stuff no one tells you about when you get engaged and embark on the wedding planning journey; a book which tells you about the many personalities of a bride, the frustrations of dress shopping and the sheer magnitude of my on-site swearing.
The life of a country girl soothes my crazy mind and allows for some calm in a world that is utter madness; more of that later though, as I must away to spray paint a T-Rex head gold for a third birthday party. Kids eh… no swimming parties and fish and chip parties these days!
