Rhenus Logistics’ arm, Rhenus Warehouse Solutions Europe has acquired Leicestershire- based 3PL provider Core Management Logistics. CML specialises in warehousing,


pre-retail, freight forwarding and distribution services for the UK market. Founded in 1990, CML


currently occupies more than 45,000sq m of warehousing


New report details UK’s squandered truck-hours


A new report commissioned by the UK Major Ports Group says that trucks are needlessly losing over 50,000 truck hours a day to traffic bottlenecks on the country’s roads and railways. It argues that focussing


investment on just 2.4% of the road network and only seven out of 1,000 main rail junctions would cut total delays and plough an extra £14.2bn into the economy, The Group is calling for Government action as Brexit

GB Railfreight has launched a new service between London Gateway and Newell & Wright’s terminal in Rotherham, South Yorkshire. The 37-wagon train will run five times a week in each direction, on behalf of shipping line MSC.

Eddie Stobart Logistics has made permanent its new rail service from the port of Tilbury to Daventry, originally launched as a fourth month trial in September. The new service, which has a forecast capacity of 200 containers a week shortly be expanded to run daily Monday to Friday, and there are also plans to add a weekly link to Widnes, Cheshire. The service leaves Tilbury at 09.00 and reaches Daventry at 15.00, allowing customers to get fresh produce into regional distribution centres or stores on the same day.


The Rhenus Group has acquired freight forwarding company, SBL Importverkehrslogistik, based at Ratingen-based near Dusseldorf. As well as import and export logistics services it offers solutions for the steel sector, along with project and heavy transport business.

DSV opens Peterborough site


DSV has opened a 300,000sq ft foot facility at Peterborough Gateway Development. Services offered include e-commerce fulfilment, product customisation, kitting and customs bonded compliance, for the automotive, consumer product, fashion, healthcare, high-tech markets. It went into operation in October, in time to provide extra seasonal capacity for the forwarder. In


2013, DSV opened a 108,000 square foot


warehouse in Thrapston, near Kettering followed, in 2015, by a new 400,000 square foot development in Raunds in the same region. Regional Director of DSV
