Alex has extensive experi- ence in marketing, sales and strategic supply chain man- agement. Since 2015, he has been involved with the pro-au- dio industry, most recently with Clear-Com’s systems integration partner, Qvest Media. Nicki Fisher, EMEA Sales Di- rector, Clear-Com, said, “This is an exciting appointment for Clear-Com as it enables us to focus on the needs of the Ger- man broadcast market in addi- tion to the substantial success we have seen from the German live and rental markets. We are delighted to welcome Alex to the Clear-Com EMEA team.” Alex Hemme said, “While Clear- Com is well known in Germany, there remains a significant op- portunity to further highlight its reliable, sophisticated and technologically advanced com-

Futuresource Consulting has ap- pointed Simon Forrest as Prin- cipal Technology Analyst, in a move that paves the way for the company’s future development. Forrest, whose career spans more than 20 years across consumer electronics, network communications and advanced semiconductor design, has held leadership positions at Pace plc and Imagination Tech- nologies, as well as being the engineering lead for Bush In- ternet TV, arguably a precursor to today’s smart TV systems. "We are delighted to welcome Simon to our team as we pre- pare for the next stage in our journey," says Simon Bryant, Director of Research at Future- source Consulting. “Simon will be responsible for identifying potential disruptive technology trends across multiple markets, allowing us to surpass our al- ready enviable position within the industry. environments in a flash, that engage and enthuse pupils. Every teacher wants to be the one the kids remember as ‘the teacher that inspired me'.

The complete classroom solution is de- signed to save time planning and creat- ing lessons, giving teachers more time to teach and inspire: “Plus Series from Clev- ertouch remains the central hub of ‘The Complete Classroom', which integrates and connects existing devices and net- worked functions across the school. Plus Series comes packed with an exhaustive range of collaborative and sharing tools, teaching software, education apps, school messaging and alerts functions, cloud accessibility and digital resource features, high precision touch and open platform functionality. All of these func- tions are instantly accessible with one click from the user-friendly LUX inter- face - a totally secure, walk-up-and-use display, designed for teachers who don't have time to battle with technology.” Contenders

In addition to Promethean and Clever- touch other vendors are making inroads to a UK education market generally agreed to be “flat” in comparison to international opportunities. As part of its commitment to improving education with the power of AV technology, ViewSonic debuted its new IFP60 series at the show. Whilst the education AV market is long established, recent years have seen a definitive prod- uct shift away from projector-based solu- tions to more collaborative Interactive Flat Panel (iFP) systems. ViewSonic’s new IFP60 series are intelligently-designed 4K displays, engineered to be the connected hub of the modern classroom. Featuring innovative InGlass Technology, the new IFP60 series offers a naturally smooth writing experience with no script-lag or response delays, as well as a touch white- board which enables free-form writing, converting to text, palm erasing, and the ability to save digitally-captured notes. The product range also features NFC ca- pability and a biometric fingerprint read- er that enables secure sign in and data

transition.

Powered by a revolutionary, upgrade- able Android-based PC that creates a captivating, tablet-like experience at the front of the classroom, the IFP60 series is available in three panel sizes: 65, 75 and 86-inches. Each display comes embed- ded with software tools such as wireless mirroring and ViewBoard Cast content sharing software, enabling teachers to plan for different types of learners and integrate web, video and photo resourc- es into their lesson plans more easily. Content can be shared from portable de- vices – such as an iPad, android tablet or Chromebook – and edited remotely, enabling teachers to improve in-class collaboration and student engagement. Tony White, AV marketing director at ViewSonic Europe commented: “The ed- ucation market has, and will continue to be, a big focus for us as an organisation. We have already seen the positive impact our products have had on the learning experience in schools across the globe and our presence at BETT 2018 will allow us to showcase how we have taken our new range of products to the next level.

Collaboration

BenQ’s aim at BETT was to demonstrate how collaborative technology is rein- venting education. BenQ will showcase its extended range of flagship products for the education market including new Mainstream and Premium Interactive Flat Panels (iFPs). These new iFPs are optimised with a flexible user interface, multi-account management system and EZWrite annotation software to bring a truly collaborative learning experience into classrooms. The enhanced iFP pan- els also feature InstaQShare software, which is designed for seamless wireless presentation and collaboration. It allows for smooth streaming of both visual and audio files, plus users can mirror content from mobile devices and invite up to 16 participants. The Premium IFP range also supports multi-touch capability up

to 20 points, allowing more students to participate in discussion and engage in group activities.

BenQ ensures classrooms embrace in- novation without compromising student’s health and the team will demonstrate its iFP features that create a healthy learn- ing environment for students. For a com- fortable viewing experience, the BenQ iFP’s automatically activate Flicker-Free, Anti-Glare and Low Blue Light features by detecting the movement of users close to the screen. However, the BenQ Premium panels are also equipped with a Germ-Resistant Screen which is powered by a multi-layer coating of a non-toxic en- during nano, ionic silver agent that kills germs accumulating on screen surfaces, even after thorough cleaning or long pe- riods of use. The BenQ Premium panels also incorporate an air-quality sensor to help monitor CO2 concentration levels in classrooms and reminds teachers to adopt necessary mechanisms to keep students highly productive during class. Meanwhile, Vestel, the world’s larg- est producer of interactive flat panels, launched an extensive range of iFPDs. The company says it has brought in- teractive education technologies to the mainstream market, offering more value as well as greater ease of adoption and integration. UK Head of Vestel Visual Solutions, Mark Dew, exclusively revealed what’s next for the technology giant: “2019 is set to be a year of opportunity, with schools, academies and universities of every size and budget now more open to updating their screen technologies. With limited in-house IT resource to rely on, educational establishments are start- ing to recognize the value of cost-efficient PC-less and server-less solutions, which require no additional training to use. This is especially the case now, as many are turning to cloud-based systems to keep their data more secure. We’re staying ahead of the trend with our IFM Series of 55”/65”/75”/86” 4K and Full HD inter- active flat panel displays. For an out of the box user experience, these displays come with built-in tablet-like functional- ity, providing Quadcore System-on-Chip technology as well as OPS compatibility

band technologies, work as a member of the steering board of WorldDAB, and the advance- ment of hardware virtualisation in the Home Gateway Initiative (HGI) consortium, leading to new architectures from mem- ber companies such as Tele- com Italia and British Telecom. Forrest is widely quoted in the press, and the author of sever- al thought-leadership articles published across industry jour- nals and magazines.

“Futuresource Consulting’s golden combination of exper- tise, deep industry insight and commercial acumen is an ap- proach that I hold dear,” says Forrest, “and I’m very excited to be joining them at a time when there’s so much happen- ing in the world of consumer electronics. As industries col- lide, consumers assess their many options and brands battle it out for control of the living room, the landscape is shift- ing and being redesigned. I’m looking forward to exploring the nascent technology trends and getting to the heart of what the future could bring.”

Sennheiser has appointed Neil Watson as Regional Marketing Manager for the UK and Ire- land. Neil will be responsible for ensuring the effective im- plementation and execution of product launches in the UK and the overall marketing strat- egy set out from CC&O HQ at a tactical and operational level. Jane Craven, Sales Director – Enterprise Solutions Sennheis- er UK, said: “We are delighted to have Neil join our growing UK & Ireland team. His track record speaks for itself and we are certain that, with his expe- rience, allied to our new intro- ductions in 2019, we are going to have a fantastic year ahead marketing with our partners.” Neil is a commercially astute channel marketer, with diverse experience in communications and digital marketing across a range of businesses. with both Windows and Android PC mod- ules to suit a greater variety of software. As a partner of Microsoft, we can even offer Windows 10 pre-installed in our hardware.

He continued: “We’ll also be making

it easier for schools to access and even customize a greater variety of education- al content with an open source platform solution. In the coming months, Vestel will be launching a series of interactive flat panel displays with Android on board. Tapping into multiple needs, these dis- plays will not only offer a greater number of free-to-access applications, but also an annotation tool, which requires no configuration to use, working across any application.” “Whether it’s to playback educational content or hold a video conference with students and teachers from around the globe, we know that video is starting to become a fundamental part of lesson plans. This trend is influencing the way we design our screens, inspiring us to ensure that we offer 4K picture clarity as well as enhanced audio with more powerful front-facing speakers for our new, forthcoming series of interactive flat panel displays. To showcase projects, our displays will also be daisy chainable, enabling students and teachers to create larger videowalls for presentations, as- semblies and open days.”

“As students are now so conversant with screen technologies, there is mount- ing pressure for educational establish- ments to keep up and offer an increasing- ly intuitive and seamless user experience. That’s why it’s important for us to support more natural and fluid on-screen writ- ing with ranges, such as our IFM Series, which are designed to provide faster response times of between 5-10ms. Our 65” projective capacitive 20-point multi- touch display further enhances touch and written accuracy, distinguishing intended from unintended inputs. In fact, you can even rest the palm of your hand on the screen as you write.”
