aerospace, defense and nuclear power are state-owned. Indian foundries in this category are now developing advanced superalloy investment cast parts with superior metallurgical quality, yield and engine performance. Indian produced investment castings serving aerospace, defense and nuclear power sectors together is about 6% of the total investment castings produced in India. 1. An appreciating Indian Rupee, rising cost of energy, fuel, inflation and even labor costs are challenges for Indian casters in future.


2. Indian investment casters need to add more high-value products to their casting portfolio.


3. With Indian political and economic uncertainties prevailing business conditions for industry are unpredictable.


4. Overall, it is estimated that 2018 Indian investment casting sales realized approximately 3% growth from 2017 levels, a consensus forecast for 2019 reflects a modest growth.


Indian forecast of IC sales for 2019 by commodity are depicted in Figure 2 above.


5. Commercial casting sales remain extremely competitive and it is hoped that growth levels can be maintained.


6. Indian investment casting automotive sales performed well in 2018 with wide improvement in automotive production.


7. The Indian aerospace and defense market present an attractive and significant opportunity for Indian and foreign companies across the supply chain.
