REPORT FROM CHRIS HADDAD

Chris was the 2018 recipient of the Tom Kimmel Memorial Scholarship awarded to a Canadian to attend DCLI in Laurel, MD. Here is his report:

Thank you for the opportunity. I loved the classes. The course offered the perfect balance of modernization and tradition within the industry. Instructor Brian and the team at DLI continue to touch on the tradition of dry cleaning but also provide relevant information with regard to how the industry has modernized.

They touch base on customer service, the different cleaning methods, cur- rent regulations facing the industry, and specific improvement points within the student’s facility. To have one-on-one evaluation and recommendations from a team that truly knows all there is to know about the industry is an invaluable resource. It is something I will use for many years!

Applications are now being accepted for the 2019 scholarship, which covers tuition, lunch and all class materials. Travel and housing expenses are the responsibility of the stu- dent. Applicants must be able to take the full three-week course at one time – beginning and advanced dry cleaning.

Any Canadian wishing to apply for the 2019 scholarship must be at least 18 years old, speak English, and have worked in the dry cleaning industry for one year. To apply, send a letter stating why you would like to attend DLI to: marcia@fabricarecanada.com or Fabricare Canada, Box 69571, Oakville, ON L6J 7R4.
