rogue traders KENT Police are reminding resi- dents to be on their guard against rogue traders following suspi- cious activity inWalderslade. It is reported that at about

12.20pm on October 17, a pen- sioner living near Robin Hood Lanewas approached by aman of- fering to carry outmaintenance to her property. After the man knocked on the

victim’s door, he is said to have demanded £3,000 in cash to clear her drains. In efforts to persuade her, he claimed a neighbour had already agreed to have their drains cleaned and had gone to the bank to get money, but he then refused to provide details of who this was, citing data protec- tion laws. The woman refused to hand

over any money and police were called. The man is described as white and of broad build. He was about 6ft tall and was wearing a yellow hard hat, high-visibility jacket and dark trousers. Call 101 to report any problems

involving suspected rogue traders or call the Citizens Advice Con- sumer Services Consumer Direct on 03454 040506.
