Summer fun at Stock Show


Summer camp, only better! Every summer, 4-H beef and horse club members from the Okanagan and beyond converge at the fairgrounds in Armstrong for the Okanagan 4-H Stock Show. For many youth, it’s the ultimate networking experience as they make memories that will last a lifetime. This year, clubs from Horsefly, Chilliwack, Saanich,


Kamloops, Salmon Arm and Armstrong were represented. Gage Rawlings of the North Okanagan 4-H Club led the champion heifer and grand champion steer. Danieka Kies’ home-grown mature cow was crowned grand champion female. Jean MacAuley, from Saanich, won the open market steer class. Rawlings’ 1,350 lb champion steer sold to Askews


Food Saturday morning for a whopping $6.75 per pound during a sale that saw 25 grain-fed market steers paraded through the sale ring. Of course, Stock Show would not be possible without a legion of leader and parent volunteers and the sponsors who continue to show their support for BC’s 4-H program and its members.
