Events Spotlight on the sponsors
With the deadline for receipt of submissions to all categories of the BIFA Freight Service Awards falling just a week into October, the focus of this month’s BIFAlink column is firmly on the sponsors. The category sponsors play a vital role in the success of this event with their contribution to the judging process, while ceremony sponsors play in important role in supporting the host, certificates and trophies amongst other things.

New category announced With the launch earlier this year of the International Freight Forwarding Apprenticeship, the 2018 BIFA Freight Service Awards will be the first to feature an Apprenticeship category sponsored by Outsource Training & Development. The Apprentice of the Year Award in Logistics
will recognise apprentices who are making a significant contribution in their workplace and
have shown a dedication to excel in their professional development and learning. Individuals may be nominated for this award by their line manager, who should complete the

Ashford-based Agency Sector Management (UK) Ltd (ASM) is sponsor of our host for the afternoon, Dame Kelly Holmes. Dame Kelly achieved double Olympic Gold with wins in the 800 m and 1,500 m, at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens – the first British woman to do so. Later that same year she was voted BBC Sports Personality of the Year.

The ceremony The BIFA Freight Service Awards ceremony will take place on Thursday 17 January 2019 at The Brewery in Central London, and will be attended by around 500 forwarding and logistics individuals. We look forward to an afternoon of celebration
as category finalists are invited to the stage to collect their certificates from the event host, Dame Kelly. Following lunch, each category winner will be announced by the sponsor. Tickets go on sale this month and can be purchased via the BIFA website at
