Dr. David L. Beckley receives recognition: Twenty-five years of moving forward

that a young African American male from Tupelo, MS would continue the legacy of graduating from a historically black college. Then, twenty-six years later after obtaining a degree in 1967 from Rust College, this same young man becomes the third Rust College alum to serve as President of his alma mater?


Dr. David L. Beckley was


appointed on January 16, 1993 as the 11th President of Rust College. On July 1, 1993, he assumed the position after serving as the 12th President of Wiley College in Marshall, TX for six years (1987- 1993).
