13&u saddle at the ABRA World Show. Parents Karen and Jim Harris wore proud smiles!
District 4-H Horse Show in Perry, GA, August 3-4. They earned more than their share of top-ten placings! They took 5 of the top ten placings in ranch roping, 4 of the top ten in both western riding and working cow horse, and 3 each in barrels, poles, and stakes! In the ranch division, Isabelle Gonzalez took the HP with Dora Dawson as reserve, and Gracie Caskey was HP for the speed division. First place win- ners included Elizabeth Gilmore (ranch-rein- ing), Gracie Caskey (barrels), Emma Grace Matrangos (working-cow), Clay Zaunbrecher (ranch-roping), and Evan Privat (stock-type- mare).
The USTRC National Finals Qualifier
show, held at Curry County Events Center in Clovis, NM, August 3-5, paid out $160,570!
Capitol Area QHA’s August 4 per-
formance horse show, held at Dripping Springs Ranch Park, drew many new ex- hibitors and horses! HPs were Brooke Ward (Small-Fry/CougarwoodCody), Elizabeth Eck- man (WT-18&u/Hot Chip Investment), Marissa Hurst (WT/19&o/Original Loper), Alexis Linder (13&u/Late Night Hotrodder), Laci Heiner (14-18/Chase The Frost Away), and Kathy Willeke (19&o/Ima Smokin Rider). Charity Harris and Acclaimed
Cowboy Church in Alvarado, paid out $41,318. Jolene Montgomery and Louie Bug’s 15.114 won Saturday’s Open 1D, and Patton Lynch and JJJ Bonnie Ray’s 14.938 won the Sunday Open 1D and the Qualifier 1D.
The Glen Rose Summer Classic, held in
Glen Rose August 9-12, had $2,000 added money each day and paid out $35,473. Open 1D winners included Lorissa Merritt (Thurs/Hiva Biva/15.748), Patton Lynch (Fri & Sun/JJJ Bonnie Rae/14.992 & 14.828), and Mollie Montgomery (Sat/Makin Ya Fa- mous/14.996).
National Youth CHA representatives
recognized Marcy Blanchard and Don Pooley with Friends of NYCHA Awards August 11 at the Tres Amigos event in Gonzales.
Dressage in the Hill Country Summer
Show #2, held August 13 at Dripping Springs Ranch Park, featured 13 hours of classical and western dressage! Champions under Judge Donna Meyer were Grace Noelke (Jr), Cyndie Jensen (Sr), and Melissa Jesurun on Ike (Open – she also took that reserve, on Bodhi). Cham- pions under Judge Grace Harris were Daelynn Jefferson (Jr) and Sydney Ross (Sr).
