Pupils at Red Hall Primary School (Darlington), Eskdale Academy (Hartlepool), Caldicotes Primary Academy (Middlesbrough), Skelton Primary School (Saltburn-by- the-sea) and Roseberry Primary School (Stockton-on- Tees) spent a day working with professional radio producers to record public service announcements encouraging parents/carers in the Tees Valley to walk to school more. Let’s Go Tees Valley suggests walking once or twice a week and finding the safest route to school, so that when children are ready to go to secondary school they are prepared to walk independently and safely to school. “In addition, the health and wellbeing of our children is a high priority. Walking to school gives us the chance to spend time with our children, teach them about road safety while improving their health, as well as making our environment better for everyone.” said Ms J Davidson, Headteacher Red Hall School, Darlington
The children’s artwork showing that walking to school can be healthier and more fun than taking the car was animated and, along with the radio spots, can be viewed at

Norton’s New Theatre School Opens!
Norton Studios is a New Theatre School Based in Norton Village,
The mission statement of the school is to provide the young people of the area quality training in theatres major disciplines including, ballet, tap, jazz, acro and singing.
It was brought to the attention of the team that areas surrounding Norton such as Hartlepool Stockton and Middlesbrough were quite heavily served by the theatre industry, however, there was limited availability for classes in Norton its self, meaning that the young
people in the area would have to travel quite a distance to receive any dance or musical training resulting in missed opportunity
The Norton Studios Team comprises of staff who all have professional experience of working within the industry be it as a professional Singer or a performer in professional theatre and they now want to take this opportunity to pass on their knowledge and experience to the next generation of performers. The new local school promises to provide exceptional levels of training, opportunities to do exams in both singing and dance, enter into competitions and also to perform in at least two shows a year, be it our Winter Gala’s or our Summer Pantomimes.
The team looks forward to welcoming everyone to the Norton Studios Family. Edgar Street, Norton, TS20 2HF. Tel: 0796018873. Facebook: @NortonStudios1
