On Tuesday, September 11, Daren Smith, senior clinical solutions spe- cialist at Surgical Information Systems in Alpharetta, Georgia, will present “When a Physician Leaves: Strategies


for Surviving and Thriving.” He will discuss the components of an effective, ongoing physician succession plan and explain how to avoid common pitfalls. On Tuesday, September 18, “Anti-


biotic Stewardship” will examine the steps an ASC should take to ensure the use of appropriate antimicrobials, including antibiotics. Apply for ASCA Foundation’s Medical Mission Scholarships The ASCA Foundation invites eligi- ble nurses, surgical techs and scrub techs interested in medical mission opportunities with One World Sur- gery to apply for the foundation’s new scholarship program. During One World Surgery’s week- long medical missions, clinical and non- clinical participants come together to perform life-changing surgeries at the Holy Family Surgery Center in Hon- duras. This world-class surgery center, which One World Surgery funds and operates, is located on the 2,000-acre ranch of the children’s home Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos (NPH), approxi- mately an hour northeast of Tegucigalpa. The ASCA Foundation scholarships


will cover the program fee—which includes food and lodging, ground transport in Honduras, and emergency medical and evacuation insurance—as well as one coach round-trip airfare for eligible ASCA members.
