compounds known for their antioxidant properties. “We also developed picnic stations to meet the needs of wineries,” Tyson said. Picnic stations are small refrigerators stocked with Winecrush meats, cheeses and crisps that can be enjoyed along with a bottle of wine on the winery’s patio.


These stations mean a winery doesn’t have to provide picnics or invest money in a restaurant, Tyson explained.


Winecrush foods are also found in select retail stores, such as Urban Fare and Save-On-Foods. In September 2017, Winecrush products were in two Save-On stores and by December they were in 20.


“They liked our passion and that we talk to customers,” Tyson said. He’s also in discussion with other major retail food chains. Winecrush also promotes its products through catering for corporate events and weddings. Tyson and his brother Drew do all the cooking using portable wood- fire ovens.


Last year, Winecrush won Small Business B.C.’s Best Concept Award for its innovation and impressive growth.


Looking to the future, Tyson said he and his colleagues want to open a division in Ontario and from there expand to other flourishing wine regions in the U.S., Australia and New Zealand.


He, Bill and Allie are keeping their fingers crossed that an investment from one of the dragons will speed them toward their long- range goals.
